San Dieguito United Methodist Church, Carlsbad, CA April 21, 2013

I'm visiting another Navy friend who lived two doors down from us in Lemoore, CA 50 years ago. We each had a baby and shared babysitting with each other. They had 3 boys and we had 2 girls. It was great to worship together and go over the funny stories and heartaches of that time and place.

It was Youth Sunday at San Dieguito. (love saying that word) 4 great mini-sermons, wonderful rendition on the bells during the Offertory, youth and children's choirs, and outstanding piano prelude by Evan Killeen and piano postlude by Drake Peters. As our children are our future, this church has an outstanding foundation going forward.
Our church used to put a tent up for coffee after church. Love this red one.
Mary said they change the color of
the draperies with the seasons.
The chandelier is so different from
anything I've ever seen. Love it!
Beautiful needlework, too!
Beautiful metalwork
 set in the wood.

Love the way the large
leaf covers the stems.
Absolutely beautiful!

Choir
Other side for the bells.
On a side wall.

Now you can see all the bells. Several youth played
more than one bell, some more than two bells!

Beautiful pews with
ceramic insets.
Close-up of the insert.
Perhaps they are ceramic rather than metal?
On the sides over doors
On the other side. as you
can see over the pews.
Skylight! and people going toward the light!
Floor to ceiling at the
back of the church!

Youth Project.
Specific donations are marked on each brick and each uncovers
the planned youth mission trip picture. What a great idea!
Makes me want to participate, too!
