Farewell to the crew and to the ship

After two weeks on board, it's a sad farewell to many friends we have made, the fun crew, and the staff who have fed and pampered us.

Culinary Arts

I didn't know food could be so artistic! Tables were set up around the pool and filled with beautiful pieces of baked art and ice sculptures. None of it was to eat but it sure was fun looking!

Welcome to the MS Statendam

The ice was magnificent!
As well as Skylar!

Amazing!

And it went on and on all around the pool.

Formal Night on the Cruise Jan 31, 2013

The girls talked me into 3 generation professional photographs and it was fun getting it done. We went to 3 different photographers and it was hard to choose which one to buy. We finally asked for help from one of them. I'm sorry I don't have a copy to put on here, all I have are the getting ready photos. Enjoy.

All dressed up for formal night and professional photos

This young man from Bali called us
to dinner. He made origami figures
out of old menus every night.
Our table mates from Canada.
They were lots of fun every night at dinner.

The chef and staff bid us a fond farewell.

Cabo San Lucas Part 5: Cigars, Fishes, and a Grasshopper

We didn't get a photo of the shopping mall, just think of large building with low ceiling, 8 aisles crammed with souvenirs, many that were the same which made for good bargaining. I bought a beautiful tiny creche' and Mary Ann bought one that was even smaller.
Along the way, a man was buying a hand rolled cigar and we watched as it was made.
Flatten the leaf.
Cut to size.
Roll around the
packed tobacco.

Cut the other end

Clip the end

As the boats pulled into port, local people would bring the catch of the day to the dock in large plastic bins on a dolly to the butcher. The people who were buying would have their bring pink plastic bags. OK, you fishermen, can you tell me what kind of fish this is? I certainly don't know.

See the bin with the fish in it?
And the fish skinned and ready to be flayed.
The pelicans were certainly happy to catch
any leftovers!!!!!

Nice large chucks for dinner.

Catherine and Skylar finally returned and ate lunch next door to Senor Frog.

Amazing what can be done with a palm frond!!!!

Cabo San Lucas Part 4 Senor Frog

Pulling into port, the first thing you see is Senor Frog. And what a welcome! Loud music, fun decor, and lively waiters made for a fun time waiting for Catherine and Skylar to return from SCUBA diving.

Each table was different

Up in the ceiling! The waiters
would touch the rear ends if they
knew someone was watching. LOL

Mary Ann drawing
This is what she was drawing.
Of course everyone wanted tips.

Ah, the mime covered
in gold. Does he
remind you of someone?

Ooops, he turned!

This did rate a tip!!!!

Lunch done, the glass of coke consumed, balloon decorated, and two happy women!

Cabo San Lucas Part 3 Whale Watching

I picked the largest of the 3 choices of boats to go whale watching as I'm not real comfortable on water. But I had a wonderful time. It was a beautiful, windy, just right temp day and I loved being out in the Pacific. I was hoping to see some baby whales with their mothers and perhaps see them again in June in Alaska, but we didn't get near a whale, not less a baby. That didn't dampen my enjoyment one bit.
Whale Ahoy! Where?

Windy day and the boat rocked!
Needed the telegraphic lens!

Well, a whale tale is a whale tale!
Consolation Prizes:

I love the sparkly water. It
always seems spiritual to me.

The birds had a great time in the bay.

They said this was a sea turtle.
