Gillespie Field Aerospace Museum San Diego, CA April 17, 2013

I visited Navy Friends from VA-25 and Marty volunteers at this working museum, preparing planes for the Air and Space Museum in Balboa Park. I am fascinated with all the work that goes into preserving old planes. Many of the tools, plans and remnants were donated by a factory that went out of business. I wish I had enough knowledge to present them to you as they were built over time, but it's only a guess.

Fun for parades.
Another one for parades.
Old plane with pilot.
The wings are covered with cloth.

Love this old biwing.

The beginning.
Model of things hoped for.

Good start on this wing.
Instructions blueprint.
Helicopter?
RQ-BA Fire Scout
Each piece is a different shape.
Many stitches and double taped wing.
I tried to get how tall these are.

Same as the ones on the left
from the front view.
Again, each piece is different.

Hummm, where do these go?
Or maybe it's these I'm looking for?
US Army Air Corps PT-22 made by Ryan Aircraft factory
in San Diego during 1941-1942. Trained cadets for WWII.
How small it is compared to the wing in the background.
Donated tools.
Wouldn't you like
to have tools like these?
A plane started from scratch.
The wood matches the blueprint.
