Travis AFB: Jelly Belly Factory May 6, Vacaville Church May 9, Mother's Day May 12, 2013

I needed some rest and to get a minor repair done on the car, so I got reservations at Travis AFB, half way between Sacramento and San Francisco. I will be picking up a girlfriend from the SFO airport on the 15th. Much to my delight, the Jelly Belly Factory is next door to Travis and that's the first place I went.

How do you like this bike?
Welcome!
Chandelier with beans!
Even the pizza is bean shaped!

Hello Skylar!
Reagan is not the only one!
Everyone had to put on a hat!
No photos during the tour, but I got
this one on the way out.

Ice Cream snack, yes,
in Jelly Belly flavors.
It was a fun day.
Now this is different!
The closest Buick Dealer is in Vacaville so I visited a church while I waited. Got more done on the car than I had planned and it's all for the good.
Reach for the sky!
Modern stained glass
Looking to the back.
Looking to the side.
They covered up the stained glass.
Rug in front of the altar.
Are we replacing stained glass
with electronics? It's not only
this church that I've seen it.
Love the collection buckets for name tags.
Here is some stained glass.
And a little bit more.
All in all, it's still holy
and it's the people that
make it so.

On Friday, May 10th, I inquired if the Base Chapel was doing anything special for Mother's Day on Sunday. They said no, but tonight the Protestant men are holding a dinner to honor the mothers and we would be glad to have you! I said yes, made my reservation and went! I had to laugh because being Episcopal, I think I could go Protestant or Catholic and be very holy with either worship.
The fellowship hall is on the left. People were at the door to greet the Mothers.
The photos I took of the dinner in the Fellowship Hall didn't come out.
The windows on your right
look into the fellowship hall.
Yes, they have it too.

This is no ordinary skylight.
Because these windows are there.
Photography only showed the light
in my picture on the left.

Looking at the altar.
On each side of the altar.
On Mother's Day I bought myself a flower and treated myself with a Cinnabun. Since the Protestant Men had honored us, I went to the Protestant Worship at the First Street Chapel.
Carnation for Mom
I received a Starbucks gift card at
the Mother's Day Dinner. Good
with my Cinnabun!

The Roses lined the sidewalk all
the way to First Street.
Courtyard between the buildings.

Nice vestibule with clear glass.
I got there early and it was fun
to see people I had met Friday.

Looking in. Both churches are set
to serve both Protestant
and Catholic families.
