Approaching Panama Canal, Jan 23, 2013

Ship's Monitor.
We are at the Panama Canal!
Let's hurry to get outside!

Sunrise on the Panama Canal

Going through the Panama Canal is Number One on the top of my Bucket List since I was in Junior High School and learned how the canal systems work. It seems so incredibly simple and yet such an effective way to move large ships to a higher or lower level.
I have started reading David McCullough's "Paths to the Sea" that adds another dimension to my understanding on how the Panama Canal was built, all the personalities involved, all the trials and errors made, yet man persevered until it was completed.
Some kind of tower and equipment in
the background for a new Panama canal

Panama Rolls and Coffee were served on the deck.
There were very good with a thick apricot jam filling.

Bruce is happy, too. With the rolls and with Skylar.
Notice the Orange and Green Arrows told our ship to
go to the right in the double lanes of the canal. Both
canal lanes went the same way on this portion of the canal.
On another portion, the other ship was going the other direction.
